World Teachers' Day or International Teacher's Day is celebrated on October 5. It commemorates the unparalleled contribution of the teachers in shaping the country's future. Behind every successful person is a great teacher. If not for our teacher, we wouldn't be where we stand today.

Here is a list of five Bollywood movies, which showcases the struggles and the importance of teachers in our lives.

1. Hichki

A teacher is someone who teaches us to overcome our faults and lapses. Hichki is a movie that brilliantly showcases how the protagonist overcomes her own shortcomings to become a teacher. All the people used to think her as an incapable and inappropriate choice. Despite the hiccups, she proves herself to the world by eventually becoming a great teacher and a successful principal of the city's best school. A parallel sub-plot weaves brilliantly through showing how Rani's character helps a group of underprivileged students to face their shortcomings and becomes successful in their lives despite facing the snobbery of the rich crowd at the school. As a teacher, she never gives up on her students and is their 'dhruv-tara' or the guiding star. The film had the tagline - "There are no bad students. Only bad teachers."

2. Do Dooni Chaar

In the movie, Rishi Kapoor essays the role of a middle-class teacher who struggles day and night to make the ends meet for his family. Troubles arise when owning a car becomes a matter of life and death for the family members. To arrange the money for the new car, he is tempted to take a bribe and pass a student wrongly. However, being a teacher, he cannot commit such heinous crime as that would affect the future of the country in the long run. It's a great movie that touches upon some serious issues with a touch of humour.

3. Do Ankhen Barah Haath

A black and white movie also made it to the list. Though, hugely popular at the time it was released, millennials today have not even heard about the great movie. This 1957 movie, directed by V. Shantaram, traces the story of a jail warden (portrayed by V. Shantaram himself) who takes the responsibility of rehabilitating six dangerous criminals who were jailed for murders. He guides them through their journey to start a new life, which is away from the world of blood and murder. Like a teacher, he watches over them while teaching them everything in all the essential manners,

4. Munna Bhai M.B.B.S.

How can it not be in the inspiring movie list? One of the most-loved and most-watched movie, it showcases a goon's endeavors to become a doctor after someone insulted his father. The movie shows how humanitarian qualities like love, care and concern are essential to cure a person as much as the medicines. From challenging the dean who 'does not love his patients, the protagonist teaches the hospital a way to live life and the importance of a personal connection with everyone.

5. Hindi Medium

Hindi Medium lays bare the Indian education system and the disparities faced by the lesser privileged people who dream to educate their children in an English-medium school. In a bid to secure his daughter's admission into the city's best school, Irrfan Khan does everything possible - from shifting into a posh locality to impersonating a poor man to get admission under the RTE quota. Though not a movie which revolves around teachers, it touches upon issues like education, parenting, class and language. This Irrfan Khan starrer is a must watch for everyone.
