'Forrest Gump' Comes To Bollywood: Aamir Khan Announces 'Laal Singh Chaddha', An Adaptation Of The Hollywood Classic

On Aamir Khan's 54th birthday, the actor in a press conference announced his next film. It is an official adaptation of 1994 Oscar winning film 'Forrest Gump', starring Tom Hanks.

The film will be directed by Advait Chandan, who earlier directed 'Secret Superstar'. Aamir said, 'We have bought the rights from Paramount and the film will be produced by Viacom and Aamir Khan Productions'

Revealing further details about the film, Aamir said that he will go through massive transformation and will have to lose 20 kgs to look lean for the film. The actor would be sporting a turban "for some part of the film". He said: "We have started the prep work on the film. The shoot will start from October. I will be prepping for six months. I have to lose weight. I will be losing 20 kgs. I have to be lean and slim. I have always loved 'Forrest Gump' as a script. It is a wonderful story about this character. It is a life affirming story. It is a feel good film. It is a film for the whole family."

For those unaware, 'Forrest Gump' was based on a 1986 novel with the same title and was written by Winston Groom. Starring Tom Hanks, Robert Wright and Gary Sinise, the movie won the Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Visual Effects and Best Film Editing. 

Also, Hanks was given the Oscar for Best Actor, for his commendable performance.

Coming back to Aamir Khan's birthday, a lot of Bollywood celebrities wished the actor on Twitter. 'Kalank' actress Madhuri Dixit wrote: "I still remember you pulling a prank on me while shooting for #Dil. Remembering those fun moments and many more on your birthday dearest @aamir_khan! Wishing you a fantastic day ahead. Stay blessed!! 😄🙌🏻"

Geeta Phogat, on whom Aamir made the film 'Dangal', also wished the actor and wrote: "Happy Birthday @aamir_khan Sir 🎂 You are a greatest and sweetest human being. May God bless you with wonderful times ahead.🌟 I wish peace, happiness, great life."

Aamir was last seen in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s Thugs of Hindostan, which also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh, but unfortunately the movie tanked at the box-office.
