Fringe V/s Sunny Leone Battle Gets Bloody

Members belonging to the Karave Yuva Sena, a pro-Kannada group protested against Bollywood actor Sunny Leone in Bengaluru on Monday. This time the protesters upped the ante and slit their hands in protest against Sunny's upcoming flick Veeramadevi.

The group claims that they're against the movie Veeramadevi as it is said to be based on the life of Chola emperor Raja Raja Cholan. The protesters held placards and shouted slogans against the actor. Sunny Leone is expected to perform at a private hotel in Bengaluru on November 3rd.

We're Not Against Sunny Leone, But We Oppose Her Movie

Harish, the state secretary of Karave Yuva Sena said, " We're not against Sunny Leone but we don't want her to act in Veeramadevi. She's free to act in any role in any other movie. But starring in a movie that depicts Raja Raja Cholan hurts our feelings. We don't want to know if she is reformed but she must be dropped from the movie."

Last year as well pro-Kannada groups had protested against Sunny Leone's new year performance. The organiser had to withdraw the event as apparently there was confusion revolving around the permission secured for it. Although the organiser of the event has no such problems this time, the protests have definitely added pressure.

Harish, from Times Creation said, " No one has approached us regarding the event. The permission for it has been secured and the police have assured to provide security. I infact approached pro-Kannada activists Praveen Shetty and Narayan Gowda, they had no objections."

Activist Brinda Adige slammed the outfit, "Telling her not to act in a particular movie just because she was a pornstar is absolutely misogynistic and sexist. Porn is watched by men and it exists because men desire it. Who are they to dictate which movie she must act and she should not act? It is between the director and her. If they don't want to watch the movie let them not".

Several times in the past fringe groups have opposed events which they believe is against our culture. Many activists feel that moral policing is certainly not the way to express one's difference of opinion.
