Celebrities went gaga on social media and fans were at it too on the release day, lauding the movie on Twitter. However, only those reviews don’t paint the true picture of the reviews regarding the movie. Reviews from critics were mixed and that was also the case regarding the verdict of the movie from Twitter users.

Fans had excitedly praised it on social media calling the movie ‘spectacular’ and ‘blockbuster’. Some lauded ‘amazing’ Rajinikanth and how Akshay Kumar never disappoints, while some called Shankar the 'James Cameron of Indian cinema.' They also reserved special praises for the VFX and the 'stunning visuals.' Some raved about the movie calling it a ‘must watch’, while some highlighted the ‘super’ 3D experience and particularly the last 15 minutes. Apart from the celebrations by Akshay fans outside the screening of the ‘awesome movie’, some of them were of the view that it was an ‘amazing experience’ and the ‘best movie ever.’

However, some of them took to Twitter, to share how the ‘poor screenplay’ derailed the ‘technically brilliant‘ movie with a social message. Many declared it a ‘flop’ with only ‘hype but no content’ and some specifically called ‘2.0’ as a 'scientific animation flop.’ Some went quirky on how the movie could be used to scare future robots. One of them pointed out the humongous budget, reportedly more than Rs 500 crore, but no emphasis on the logic, leading to a disappointment. One of them was just upset about Akshay not being given enough credit in the praises on Twitter.
