 The screening of Reema Kagti's directorial 'Gold' starring Akshay Kumar was held on August 12 in Delhi. The screening was attended by Bollywood artists as well as sports personalities. The film traces the 12-year journey of free India winning its first gold medal in any sport. On August 12, 1948, a free India's hockey team won its first gold medal ever. Until then India had won three gold medals, but the credit was taken away by the British since they had complete control over the country. 

The film produced by Ritesh Sidhwani also stars Mouni Roy, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Sunny Kaushal, Vineet Kumar Singh and Nikita Dutta among others.

On the day of the screening, which also commemorated 70 years of India winning its first gold medal in sports, the makers of the film lit up few iconic monuments from different cities in gold. The places that were lit were Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in Mumbai, Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad, Magarpatta City in Pune, Statue Circle in Jaipur, JK Temple in Kanpur and the Prinsep Ghat in Kolkata.
