On July 24, Sonali Bendre took to social media to break the news of her battle with high-grade cancer. Ever since, the actress has been keeping fans updated with frequent posts. However, on September 7, BJP MLA Ram Kadam, falling prey to a hoax, tweeted a condolence message for the actress sending waves of panic across the industry and among her fans and well-wishers. Upon realising his mistake, Kadam deleted his tweeted and posted, “About Sonali Bendre ji It was rumour. Since last two days .. I pray to God for her good health & speedy recovery.” The actress’ husband Goldie Behl later took to Twitter with an appeal. He said, “I appeal to all to please use social media more responsibly. Let us not believe in rumours and spread them, unnecessarily hurting the sentiments of those involved. Thank you.”

Meanwhile, Sonali Bendre, who is currently undergoing treatment for high-grade cancer in New York, missed her son Ranveer on his 13th birthday on August 11. The doting mother took to social media to share a video clip with pictures of herself with her son Ranveer.

Sonali captioned the video with a heart-warming message saying, "Ranveeeeer! My sun, my moon, my stars, my sky... Okay, maybe I'm being a bit melodramatic, but your 13th birthday deserves this. Wow, you're a teenager now... Will need some time to wrap my head around that fact. I can't tell you enough how proud I am of you... Your wit, your humour, your strength, your kindness, and even your mischief. Happy happy birthday, my not-so-little one. It's the first one that we're not together... I miss you terribly. Lots and lots of love always and forever.... biiiiig hug!"

Ever since Sonali broke the news of her battle with metastatic cancer, her fans have been left worried about her health. In an earlier Instagram post, Sonali shared how difficult it was to break the news about her cancer to their 12-year-old son Ranveer. The actress not only praised her son for showing maturity and but was surprised how he instantly became the source of strength for her. "As much as we wanted to protect him, we knew it was important to tell him the full facts. We've always been open and honest with him and this time it wasn't going to be different. He took the news so maturely... and instantly became a source of strength and positivity for me. In some situations now, he even reverses roles and takes on being the parent, reminding me of things I need to do," the 43-year-old actress revealed in her new post. She added, "I'm spending time with Ranveer right now, while he's on summer vacation. His madness and shenanigans help me #SwitchOnTheSunshine. And today, we derive strength from each other #OneDayAtATime."
