Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have received a lot of flak and criticism for his sexist and misogynist comments earlier this month on Karan Johar's talk show, 'Koffee With Karan'. The comments were not well received, and have thus landed him in the hot waters. Due to the debacle, BCCI had to take matters into their own hands, and have suspended the Indian all-rounders from the national team.

Recently, Pandya's ex-girlfriend Elli AvRam reacted to the controversy at an award ceremony and stated that she returned to India just a few days back and that she has been getting messages from various journalists regarding this, but did not know how to react as she had no idea about it.

However, she added that she saw a few clips, and decided that the entire incident was really sad, and was quite surprised as this was not the same Hardik Pandya she knew before. Speaking about his suspension from the national team, she said that only once is a person given a chance to represent the country, and that should not be taken lightly as many look up to the youth, and learn from their idols, and so this behaviour should not be encouraged.

Elli AvRam and Hardik Pandya dated for a while before they parted ways for unknown reasons.

Hardik has been slammed mercilessly for his sexist, misogynist and racist comments. Some of his statements that sparked a row were when he stated that he likes to ’observe’ women ‘move’ as he was from ‘black side’ on why he never asked for their names.

He boasted about his sex life to his parents and they were fine with it and also revealed how they felt proud when he pointed out multiple women in a party on who interests him. The cricketer also said the man who has ‘talent’ wins the girl after Rahul said it’s up to the girl on the question "If you all hit on the same women, then how do you decide?"

Both he and Rahul have been dropped from the ongoing series in Australia and the upcoming New Zealand tour following the controversy. The duo has issued ‘’unconditional apologies’ in reply to the show-cause notice sent to them by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
