Ever since the promotions of 'Bharat' started, actor Salman Khan can't help but point out that Priyanka Chopra Jonas who had earlier confirmed to be part of the period drama, opted out at the last minute thus leaving the makers in a lurch. At the time, Chopra's marriage to singer-songwriter Nick Jonas was cited as a reason, but even after that, a tiff between them broke out, with Khan making quite a few outrageous remarks about the actress.
And now responding to the growing one-sided tiff between Priyanka and Salman, the latter's co-star Katrina Kaif has defended the actor, citing his 'sense of humor' as the reason behind these comments. In an interview, she went on to say that everything Khan says, one has to take it with a 'big bucket of salt' and that most of the time, he says things for 'effect' and does not mean it.
Set in the backdrop of Indian Independence, the film portrays the journey of a man named 'Bharat', played by Salman, in parallel with the journey of the country towards independence. With a tagline that reads: 'the journey of a man and a country together', the film features the actor in five different looks according to his age and profession as it follows his life from 1964 to 2010.
The film is produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar under the banner of Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd. and Salman Khan Films, presented by T-Series. The film is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language historical period drama film written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar which is set to release on June 5 this year.
