Akshay Kumar has had an incredibly successful 2019. The actor celebrated his 50th birthday and had three major releases this year. The films- Kesari, Mission Mangal, and Housefull 4- all emerged as box-office hits. Now, the actor is gearing up for his latest and last release for 2019- the quirky comedy film, Good Newwz. The film is directed by Raj Mehta and stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. The trailer dropped online recently and has been very well-received by filmgoers and celebrities alike.

Here are some of Akshay Kumar's quirkiest Bollywood movies

1. Hera Pheri 

Hera Pheri is one of the most popular Bollywood comedies. Released in the year 2000, the film was directed by Priyadarshan and was a remake of the 1989 Malayalam movie, Ramoji Rao Speaking. The film starred Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Paresh Rawal, and Tabu in lead roles. Hera Pheri is loved by audiences for its' hilarious moments, the affable camaraderie shared between the central trio of Akshay, Paresh, and Suniel, and Paresh Rawal's iconic role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte. The film is noted for heralding Akshay's much-loved entry into the comedy genre.

2. Garam Masala

Garam Masala is a 2005 situational comedy directed by Priyadarshan. It is a remake of the director's own 1985 Malayalam film, Boeing Boeing, which was an adaptation of 1965 American film Boeing Boeing, which in turn was an adaptation of a 1960 French play of the same name. The film was a box-office success and widely acclaimed for Akshay Kumar's terrific comic timing. Akshay even won the 2005 Filmfare Award for Best Actor in a Comic Role.

3. Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi 

Mr. and Mrs. Khiladi is a romantic comedy released in 1997. The film was directed by David Dhawan and starred Akshay Kumar is his first proper comedy role, opposite Juhi Chawla. The film was a remake of the Telugu film, Aa Okkati Adakku, which itself was a remake of the 1992 Tamil film, Paaru Paaru Pattanam Paaru. The film was a box-office hit and well-known for Akshay Kumar's comic timing. It is one of his most underrated roles.
