This week started on a sorrowful note as Late legendary filmmaker Raj Kapoor's wife and also Bollywood's first lady, Krishna Raj Kapoor passed away on October 1 at the age of 87. Her funeral was held on the same day where the who's who of Bollywood had come to pay their last respects to Krishna Raj Kapoor. Celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar among others were present. What was surprising was Ranbir Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor's absence. Late Krishna Raj Kapoor was Neetu's mother-in-law and Ranbir's grandmother. Almost the entire Kapoor family was present except for Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Ranbir Kapoor.
The real reason behind their absence was that they had accompanied Rishi Kapoor to the United States for his medical treatment. Rishi Kapoor had tweeted before leaving for the states. He wrote, "Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years “plus” of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes, I will be back soon!"
According to reports, Krishna Raj Kapoor had been complaining of breathlessness for some time and her eldest son Randhir Kapoor reportedly revealed that his mother passed away at about 5 am on October 1, due to a cardiac arrest and old age was another factor. The family is deeply saddened by her demise. Krishna Raj Kapoor was loved by all and celebrities like Karan Johar, Soha Ali Khan, and Anupam Kher to name a few even took to their social media pages to share heartfelt messages about Late Krishna Raj Kapoor.
