The release date of superstars Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer much-awaited movie '2.0' is finally out. Akshay Kumar took to Twitter on Tuesday and revealed November 29, 2018, as the release date of the movie:
Earlier media reports stated that '2.0' may not get a release date this year and may be pushed to the early part of 2019. The reason stated was that the film requires a huge amount of works on VFX and the makers would not be able to finish by August and this the reason the release of the film has been postponed.
There were also rumors doing the rounds that multiple studios across the globe are working to finish the VFX works of '2.0' by the end of this year.
'2.0' is a sequel to the 2010 film 'Enthiran' and will again have superstar Rajinikanth essaying the dual roles – Scientist Vaseekaran and Robot Chitti. A new addition to the film will be the inclusion of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar and he will be seen playing the role of the main antagonist in the film while 'Ek Deewana Tha' actress Amy Jackson would be reportedly seen playing the leading lady.
'Enthiran' starred Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Rajinikanth and was also released as 'Robot'. The movie is directed by S Shankar and just like the previous installment, Academy award-winning music director, A R Rehman will be composing the music of the film.
On the work front, Akshay is currently gearing up for his upcoming film 'Gold', which is set against the backdrop of the 1948 Summer Olympics and it will tell the story of India winning its first gold medal in hockey. The movie will release on August 15 and will clash with John Abraham' 'Satyameva Jayate'.
Besides 'Gold', Akshay Kumar will be seen in Yash Raj's period drama film where he will essay the role of the warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan and has reportedly signed on to the film 'Kesari', where he will be playing a Sikh warrior and the film is reportedly based on 'Battle of Saragarhi'. Akshay has also started shooting for the 'fourth installment of the famous 'Housefull franchise', 'Housefull 4' alongside Kriti Kharbanda, Kriti Sanon, Bobby Deol to name a few.
While Rajinikanth was last seen in the political drama 'Kaala' alongside Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi.
'Kaala' shows the problems that the Tamils of Mumbai encounter with and Rajinikanth essayed the role of a don. The movie was shot at Dharavi slum, Mumbai, which is one of the largest slums of India. This movie was directed by Pa Ranjith and was produced by Rajinikanth's son in law, Dhanush. Despite huge promotions, the movie received mixed reviews at the Domestic Box Office.
