Atul Manjrekar directorial ‘Fanney Khan’ that released recently might not have impressed with the box-office numbers, but it is sure touching hearts. The movie starring Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Rajkummar Rao and Pihu Sand in pivotal roles was the story about a middle-class man who wishes to see his daughter become a singer.
Anil Kapoor who plays a taxi driver makes end meet and even goes to the extent of kidnapping in an attempt to get her daughter the opportunity of becoming a singer. Other than being the story of the struggles faced by Anil Kapoor’s character, the film also deals with fat shaming. Actress Pihu Sand who plays Anil Kapoor’s teenage daughter in the film is shown as an obese kid and the struggle she faces for being fat.
In line with this, a Twitter user who was inspired by the story of Pihu’s character posted a video on how the movie has been an inspiration and thanked the producer of the film, Rakeysh Om Praksah Mehra for such films. Along with the video, the girl, Alina Saha, wrote, "I watched Fanney Khan and I was very touched by Lata’s story. Even I have gone through body shaming and I couldn’t stop myself from making this video. Thank you Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra for choosing this topic. It means a lot to young girls like me."
Sonam Kapoor too shared this video by Alina Saha and wrote, "What a touching message for one of my favourite filmmakers! As a once overweight girl myself, I fully get the nuance of what you are saying Alina! @alina_cutiepie @RakeyshOmMehra"
