Here's Why Sushant Singh Rajput's 'Rifleman' Is In A Legal Tussle With The Makers Of '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died'

  • Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's upcoming film 'Rifleman' which is reportedly based on the life of rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat has been drawn into controversy as the markers of recently released '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died' claimed that they had the original rights of making a film on his life.
  • As per media reports, Avinash Dhyani, the director of '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died ' opened up about the same during a press conference recently.

Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput's upcoming film 'Rifleman' which is reportedly based on the life of rifleman Jaswant Singh Rawat has been drawn into controversy as the markers of recently released '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died' claimed that they had the original rights of making a film on his life.

As per media reports, Avinash Dhyani, the director of '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died' opened up about the same during a press conference recently where he said that Abundantia Entertainment, producer of 'Rifleman', has sent a legal notice to the team of '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died' stating that the latter cannot release their film because they (Abundantia) have the original rights to make the film on Rawat's life. However, Dhyani refuted such claims and stated that they are the one who got the rights to make the film from Rawat's mother and brother back in 2015. 

The film's producer Prashil Rawat and lawyer Nagesh Mishra were also present at the press meet.

The biographical drama '72 Hours: Martyr Who Never Died' is based on the life of Indian soldier Jaswant Singh Rawat and is set in a backdrop of 1960s Sino-Indian War. It celebrates Rawat's bravery as he stood against all odds and guarded the Indian post from Nurunaang Base in Arunachal Pradesh for long 72 Hours. The film released on January 18.

On the other hand, 'Rifleman' starring Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead will be jointly produced by Abundantia Entertainment and Pooja Films and is staled for a 2019 release. The actor announced the making of the upcoming venture on the occasion of the Amry Day on January 15. He to Twitter and shared a motion poster from the film announcing 'the beginning of a new journey'. The tagline of the film read: 'An advancing enemy. A border to protect. 1 Braveheart.'
