Here's why the audience has not seen Deepika Padukone on the silver-screen after 'Padmaavat'

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone has worked in back to back Sanjay Leela Bhansali films such as 'Goliyon Ki Raasleela', Bajirao Mastani and 'Padmaavat'. All these films were quite intense, with high emotional quotient and the characters that had to be played by the actress were quite challenging.

However, it has been almost a year that the actress was seen on the silver screen, and so opening up about the same, Padukone in an interview stated that she was exhausted after working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali consecutively, and that is why she wanted to replenish emotionally before taking another project up.

However, there is good news for Deepika's fans, as she is all set to return to the silver screen with the film ''Chhapaak' 

The project will be directed by Meghna Gulzar and is based on the life of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal, who in 2015, was a victim of violence while she was waiting at a bus stop in Delhi. Deepika Padukone will be playing the lead in the film and will be featured opposite 'Half Girlfriend' actor Vikrant Massey.

Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone who last appeared in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 venture 'Padmaavat' recently tied the knot with her co-star Ranveer Singh. The pair, who has appeared in several other films together finally tied the knot in a private ceremony at Lake Como, Italy on November 14 and 15, after 6 years of courtship.
