Anupam Kher has become a man of international presence over the years. Not only is he an established actor in the country, but now he has worked in Hollywood movies and television shows, adding more success under his belt. The veteran actor was also part of an international project titled 'Hotel Mumbai'. The critically acclaimed film which has been making waves at TIFF is all set to release in India and now Anupam has dropped the film's trailer.
The teaser trailer is based on Mumbai terror attacks that took place on November 26, 2008. However, the perspective is rather unique. Instead of focusing on all the different attacks, this mainly covers the isolated incident when terrorists laid siege to the Taj Mahal hotel near the Gateway of India. In the trailer, Dev Patel of 'Lion' fame is shown as a simple Sikh man who works as a staff member at the hotel, whereas Anupam Kher plays a chef. The story is told from the perspective of these brave men and what they went through when the terrorists infiltrated the famous hotel. It also features Armie Hammer as one of the foreign guests who was staying there at the time.
From the get-go, the tension is palpable in the teaser. Nothing seems overdone and everything looks highly realistic, right from the way people are reacting to the attack to the way the terrorists are holding their weapons and their expressions too. The realistic nature of the teaser is what makes it so appealing as well as horrifying. While it brings back bad memories of that fateful day, it also celebrates the brave men and women of the Taj hotel, who protected the guests with their lives. Overall, 'Hotel Mumbai' seems like one of the most promising ventures of 2019.
