In a demolition drive that took place on Thursday, August 30, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials bulldozed approximately 20 encroachments. In orange vests with shovels and cranes, the officials did not spare anyone. From Shatrughan Sinha to Hrithik Roshan and other celebrities all the 20 structures encroaching the footpaths were razed. Reportedly,  Shatrughan Sinha had previously removed the security shed that was outside his bungalow 'Ramayana', but the poles were still intact. And, so sparing no one the BMC officials pulled them out before heading towards Hrithik Roshan's residence 'El Palazzo'. Along with clearing the pavements outside the houses of these eminent Bollywood personalities, the officials then went on to Sumit Singh's bungalow Sneh and Kalpataru on Road 9, Juhu. The action was taken against 13 residences on Thursday, August 30. Although most of the residents in the area had asked the BMC officials for some extra time, they had not cleared up the area and so the officials decided to take action.

 Outside Shatrughan Sinha's house:

Previously, a BMC notice was sent to all the residents of the area who needed to clear the pavements and a few of them had been protesting about the same since the past two years. Reportedly, the residents of Juhu were using the pavements outside their houses as sheds and gardens because of which the BMC had issued a notice to 60 residents of the area, giving them two-days time so that they could demolish the property on their own. Although the footpaths of the two celebrities were razed, there were also a few who took the notice issued by the BMC seriously. Veteran actor Jeetendra removed the lion sculptures that were outside his bungalow and actor-turned-politician Hema Malini also removed the plants which were previously placed outside her residence. In addition to this, previously, the BMC officials had also issued a notice to the 'Quantico' actress Priyanka Chopra at her residence in Andheri (West) for illegal construction at the premises of her office and the nearby commercial premises that she had rented out.
