From a casting assistant to becoming one of the most dependable actresses in a short span of time, Bhumi Pednekar's journey in Bollywood so far has been a rather inspiring one. The actress says that she knew she wanted to become an actor ever since she was a kid.

The actress who began her career as a casting assistant recently said her experience was enriching.

"Working as a casting assistant was very helpful for me as an actor. My casting experience was equivalent to attending acting school.  I got to work with different directors and got to audition different actors. So I got a fair idea about what is required and what is not required as an actor." Bhumi Pednekar's choice of films in this short career span has been interesting. From playing a plus-size bride in her debut film 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', to a wife who decides to stand by her husband despite his 'erectile dysfunction' to playing a strong-willed village girl in 'Toilet Ek Prem Katha' who refuses to sacrifice her pride, the actress has managed to bag films with strong female characters. The actress, however, in an exclusive interview to Republic TV said that choosing offbeat films is not a conscious choice,

"I am not consciously running behind films that are different. I am going behind good stories that make an impact and stories that will live forever. I was very lucky that 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha' was my first film since it really set the tone of my career. But apart from that, when I read a script, I purely work on instincts."

During a recent media interaction, when asked if the fact that she is now a star has sunk in Bhumi said,

"I am an actor first and I have gotten all the love because of my performances and the films that I have been a part of, the characters that I was so lucky to portray. so I think stardom is a very passing concept, today you need to be a good actor, you need to be a good person. You need to be a responsible person to actually flourish and that is exactly what I am trying to achieve."

Bhumi Pednekar is all set to star in the Karan Johar's 'Takht'. The film starring Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor is slated for a 2020 release.
