"I Have Met Atal Ji With My Father When I Was A Child", Says Sonakshi Sinha

Sonakshi Sinha expressed her grief on the demise of the former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The actress also shared the anecdote of meeting Vajpayee when she was a kid.

Sonakshi Sinha who will next be seen in 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' in an exclusive interaction with Republic TV expressed her grief on the sudden demise of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee who breathed his last on Thursday, August 16. On June 11, Vajpayee was admitted to AIIMS due to complaints related to respiratory and kidney ailments and as per the medical bulletin released by AIIMS, the former Prime Minister passed away at 5:05 pm on Thursday, August 16. Ever since the news of Vajpayee's demise broke, Bollywood celebrities including Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Shatrughan Sinha, Farhan Akhtar, Priyanka Chopra, Sanjay Dutt, Shahrukh Khan to name a few, have expressed their condolences on social media.

When she was asked about how she remembers Atal Bihar Vajpayee, Sonakshi Sinha took a trip down the memory lane and shared an anecdote of meeting the former Prime Minister for the first time with her father veteran actor-turned-politician Shatrughan Sinha.

Sonakshi said,"I have met Atal Ji with my father when I was a child. It's a very very sad day for the nation, the country needs people like him who are so emotional and so sensitive, who are so talented and so good with their words and their feelings. It's a very very big loss for the nation today."

On the work front, Sonakshi will be seen next essaying the role of 'Happy' in Mudassar Aziz's directorial 'Happy Phirr Bhag Jayegi' which features an ensemble cast of Diana Penty, Jimmy Sheirgill, Ali Fazal, Aparshakti Khurana, Jassi Gill, and Piyush Mishra. The film is slated to hit the screens on August 24. Apart from this Sonakshi has also grooved with legends like Rekha, Dharmendra and her father Shatrughan Sinha along with Salman Khan for a special number of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se' which is the third installment of 'Yamla Pagla Deewana' franchise and stars the trio Dharmendra, Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol in pivotal roles. The song is a revamped version of the iconic song 'Rafta Rafta' which was originally picturised on Dharmendra and Rekha. While Rekha and Salman will share screen space after 30 years, Sonakshi will share screen space with her father Shatrughan Sinha for the first time.
