After the news of Akshay Kumar postponing the release of ‘Pad Man’ to avoid clash with ‘Padmaavat’ surfaced, he held a press conference with Sanjay Leela Bhansali to officially confirm the development. While addressing the media, Akshay said,
“It is essential for them to release the film Padmaavat as quickly as possible, so I agreed to move the release date of my film 'Pad Man' ahead, it will now be released on February 9.”
He further said,
“Bhansali needs this date much more than I do”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed his gratitude towards Akshay Kumar for honouring his request and shifting the date of Pad Man. He said that if Padmaavat had to clash with Pad Man, it would have further escalated troubles for the already controversy-ridden movie.
“Padmaavat has been made after facing a lot of difficulties, we decided on the release date of 25 January but it was with Akshay Kumar for release of his film 'Pad Man'. We requested him to move the release date of his film ahead, he agreed to it. I will be grateful to him for a lifetime,” said Bhansali.
'Padmaavat' is all set for a worldwide January 25 release in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil, and will be the first Indian film to get a global IMAX 3D release.
