IFTDA Suspends Filmmaker Sajid Khan For A Year Post Sexual Harassment Charges, Details Inside

Indian filmmaker Sajid Khan who was accused of sexual harassment by a series of women at the workplace has been suspended for a year by the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA)

Indian filmmaker Sajid Khan who was accused of sexual harassment by a series of women at the workplace including Rachel White, Karishma Upadhyay, Simran Suri and Saloni Chopra has been suspended by the Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) for one year. The verdict was passed after Khan appeared before the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) set up by the Indian Film and Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) on October 31, where the allegations against him were investigated. 

Reportedly, when the filmmaker appeared in front of the ICC, he offered no explanation, no response or anything to defend himself against the allegations pressed against him. He did admit that his behaviour towards women was rude, but he refused to admit that he has sexually molested the complainants

After following the ICC's recommendation, the IFTDA has now suspended Sajid membership for one year and this will be reviewed again after a year. A copy of the letter stating Sajid's suspension has been sent to him. 

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, Sajid Khan had stepped down as the director of 'Housefull 3'. Further, he also released a statement through Twitter. 

Here's his statement, 

"In the wake of the allegations against me and the pressure being put on my family, my producer and the stars of my film ‘Housefull 4’, I must take the moral responsibility of stepping down from my directorial post, till the time I can allay the allegations and prove the truth.. Request my friends in the media to kindly not pass judgment till the truth is out."

With the #MeToo movement gaining momentum then, various Bollywood celebrities have been named with new ones keep emerging every other day. There were also many from the fraternity who had come out in support of the victims.
