Independence Day 2019: Anupam Kher posts hard-hitting message, validates long-held saying about India

After the historic decisions in the Parliament with regards to Jammu and Kashmir, the revocation of Article 370 and its bifurcation into J&K and Ladakh, Anupam Kher said that India’s Independence is now complete as the country celebrated 72 years of freedom on Thursday. The veteran also hailed the freedom fighters who battled against British. Being a Kashmiri Pandit, he added that it was now time to forget all the sorrows over the years and take the region, along with the entire country, to the heights of progress. 

In a hard-hitting video message, Kher said, “My dear citizens, I convey my heartfelt wishes on the occasion of Independence Day to you all. 72 years ago, our ancestors and the freedom fighters had given us Independence by sacrificing their lives. This year, our country’s independence is complete. ‘Our country is from Kashmir to Kanyakumari’ is no more a saying, but the reality. I am a Kashmiri Pandit, we have suffered several sorrows, we have been living as refugees in our own country. But now is the time to forget everything and move ahead. I’m aware that some people want to keep the wounds of ours and our Muslim brothers and sisters alive, that’s their job. But let’s ignore them.  So, on this Independence Day, lets all come together and take Kashmir and the entire country to the summit of progress. Happy Independence Day! Bharat Mata Ki Jai!”
