India witnessed a historic day on Thursday, September 6, as the Supreme Court of India gave its verdict on Section 377. The section 377 of the Indian Penal Code criminalised the rights of the people belonging to the LGBTQ community. In 2013, the Supreme Court refused to put a ban on section 377. This decision by the Supreme Court caused huge outrage among the LGBT community. Within minutes after the judgment was passed, and the citizens celebrated this judgement by taking to social media. Bollywood actors have also lent their support to the judgment. Director turned producer Karan Johar too lauded this judgement of the supreme court of India.
The 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' director took to social media and shared a picture of the rainbow flag, which symbolizes the pride of the LGBT community. The 'Kal Ho Naa Ho' director captioned the picture as, ''Historical judgment!!!! So proud today! Decriminalising homosexuality and abolishing #Section377 is a huge thumbs up for humanity and equal rights! The country gets its oxygen back! 👍👍👍💪💪💪🙏🙏🙏''.
