While sequels and remakes have been a part of the Indian film industry, the concept of a spin-off or a universe hasn’t been explored much. However, that’s all set to change with Rohit Shetty’s universe of police officers. After making cop movies ‘Singham’ and ‘Simmba’ starring Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh, the hit filmmaker’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Akshay Kumar went on floors on Monday. The makers, including Karan Johar have confirmed that the ‘Universe Expands’ and that the ‘game begins’ as Ajay and Ranveer too joined in for a photo-op.
Rohit and Karan posed with the cops, Ranveer, Ajay and Akshay as they held their respective movie clapboards. The latest entrant to the universe, Akshay wrote, “The cop universe just got bigger as #Sooryavanshi takes charge!”
On the international platform, one such universe of the ‘Avengers’ recently smashed records galore as it crossed the USD 2 billion mark worldwide. While we can’t expect our cops to replicate that massive feat, they can surely set records in India for sure.
The interesting bit is that the makers also tagged the cops’ leading ladies, ‘Sooryavanshi’s Katrina Kaif, ‘Simmba’ lead Sara Ali Khan and ‘Singham Returns’ Kareena Kapoor Khan in the posts.
Kajal Aggarwal, who was in the first ‘Singham’, however, doesn’t find a mention
While all the three were all seen together in ‘Simmba’, it’d be interesting how the trio comes together in ‘Sooryavanshi.’ And of course, a film when all the three have equal parts as they take on a mighty villain like Thanos, is on the cards.
