With the date of January 11 drawing near, the anticipation for 2019's first major political drama The Accidental Prime Minister is skyrocketing. Based on former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's first term in the office, it will see veteran actor Anupam Kher in the shoes of the famed economist. Now, filmmaker Shekhar Kapur has already watched the Vijay Ratnakar Gutte directorial and shared his thoughts on social media.
Taking to social media, the 'Masoom' director was all praise for the Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna starrer. He said that the biggest plus point of the film is the very strong performances which make it a 'must watch'. Speaking about the veteran actor's complex on-screen character he said, ''Anupam creates Manmohan Singh as a man who seems weak but carries great strength inside. Yet ultimately finds that principles and politics do not go together.''
He continued his praise for Anupam Kher as he said that his portrayal could have easily become caricaturish, but he managed to walk the fine line to come off as ''a relatable human being that you want to reach out to and hug.''
Ultimately it is clear that he is in awe of the veteran actor's transformation as the former Prime Minister. At the film's trailer launch, Anupam Kher had exclusively told Republic TV that, ''It's the most difficult role I've done in my 35 years and 515 films.''
Based on a book of the same name, 'The Accidental Prime Minister' follows the account of Sanjaya Baru, the chief media advisor to Dr Manmohan Singh during his first term.
