Republic TV on Thursday spoke exclusively and at length to Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon, who gave an on-ground account of the current security situation in the Kashmir valley in the aftermath of its full integration with India owing to the scrapping of Article 370 and its bifurcation into two union territories - J&K and Ladakh.

Speaking on how Pakistan's attempts to aid terrorist infiltrations into Indian territory are still ongoing, Lt Gen KJS Dhillon said "Pakistan military is trying their best to infiltrate terrorists into Indian territory. They are trying their best to indulge in ceasefire violations on the line of control and they are being responded to in a befitting manner, and we will probably respond in a harder manner in the future"

"Pakistan resorts to various techniques when it comes to supporting the infiltration. In terms of having the infiltration by surprise or strength, or by proving covering fire from their army forces to support the infiltration. The third is accompanying the infiltrating column of the terrorist right up to the line of control and engaging all force from a very close range so that the infiltrators and terrorists can come inside, and at times they also attempt something called bat action/bat teams. However, we are very successful in combating all such moves. We are committed to letting no infiltrator enter our territory. If the Pakistan army or anyone help them, we will give a befitting reply.

It had been Lt Gen KJS Dhillon who had addressed the joint Indian Army-J&K Police news briefing during which the nefarious Pakistan army-backed plot to attack Amarnath Yatris had been exposed, with Pak Army accouterments including a sniper rifle being showcased.

That came just three days before the Modi government's momentous decision to scrap Article 370 pertaining to Jammu and Kashmir, thereby revoking its special status and also the Article 35A which had imposed various restrictions regarding land-ownership, reservation, and such which had the effect of inhibiting the state's development.

The Indian security forces had taken numerous measures to ensure that peace prevailed in the Kashmir Valley during the course of Article 370's revocation, which was passed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, especially given Pakistan's desperate reaction attempting to internationalize India's internal issue, and intensified efforts via repeated ceasefire violations to send in terrorists from across the border.
