The floods in Kerala have been considered as the worst in the country and have claimed more than 350 lives so far. The situation in Kerala has been declared as a 'calamity of severe nature' and has left several homeless. According to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the calamity is the worst that the state has seen in the past 100 years. With the citizens of India trying hard to survive the calamity, various actors from the film fraternity have come forward to provide relief to the victims in the form of hefty amounts. Along with that, various online portals have a come forward to create campaigns to collect money so that basic necessities can be bought and provided with it. Many Bollywood actors such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Hrithik Roshan, and Sushant Singh Rajput to name a few have donated for the victims of the flood-hit state.
Recently, Jaaved Jaaferi drafted a tweet stating that Salman Khan, had donated around Rs. 20 crores to the state of Kerala. However, he soon deleted the tweet revealing that he was not sure about the incident and had just 'heard' of it. Jaaferi was slammed by trolls on social media for misleading and spreading rumours about Salman Khan's donation for the flood-hit state of Kerala. Jaaved, however, replied saying that he was unsure but had heard about the news from a credible source. In his defense, the actor stated that he was just expressing his thoughts given that Salman has been quite helpful and in the past and according to Jaaved, there was a strong possibility that Salman would have done his bit this time too. The 'Salaam Namaste' actor also mentioned in his tweet that he was taking his previous tweet about the news down until there is a confirmed update on the same.
Although Salman Khan is yet to comment on the issue, the whopping figures of his alleged numbers have been doing rounds on social media. Most of the Bollywood celebrities have extended their hand to help the state of Kerala. Recently, Kunal Kapoor and Randeep Hooda have taken it upon themselves to help the victims of Kerala through various crowdfunding projects. While Sunny Leone donated 1200 kilograms of rice and dal for the victims. Reports also suggested that 'Queen' actress Kangana Ranaut extended support to the victims of the Kerala floods by donating Rs. 10 Lakh towards the Chief Minister Relief Fund. And, adding another name to the Bollywood family who has helped the victims is Sushant Singh Rajput who has been extremely agile in supporting the victims and has gone the extra mile and donated Rs. 1 crore to the state. Singer-songwriter AR Rahman also paid a special tribute to the victims of Kerala in his recent concert that took place in California. The singer replaced the lyrics of his song 'Mustafa' with Kerala and sang 'Don't Worry Kerala'.
