The John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer 'Satyamev Jayate' has reportedly been denied a 'U' certificate. The Milap Zaveri directorial 'Satyameva Jayate' follows the story of a cop (played by Manoj Bajpayee), who is on a mission to unravel the reason behind the murders of police officers. The John Abraham starrer also features Amruta Khanvilkar and Aisha Sharma among others.

The film found itself in the eye of the storm recently when the Shia community in Hyderabad registered a case against the film for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. According to the complainant, a 'Maatam' (mourning) scene in the film has hurt religious sentiments of a Muslim sect. A case was registered against the makers of 'Satyamev Jayate' under sections 295, 295-A, and 153-A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

As per reports, filmmaker Milap Zaveri reportedly said that 'Satyamev Jayate' is not directed towards the younger audiences and is not a popcorn film. The director further went on say that the film is targeted towards a mass audience and takes a stand against corruption and violence against women. Talking about the current situation in the country John Abraham had said, "The whole world is getting polarised and by polarised I mean that it is going against a particular community right now. It has become our mindset that if there is something wrong, then that particular community is causing all the harm. I think we should first get that out of our heads because only then you can judge people rightly."

While talking about the film's subject, John Abraham had said, "If you are communalising them, then they become fringe elements and after that they become extremists. You are creating the terror. So I think the world is kind of a dangerous place to live in right now." The John Abraham and Manoj Bajpayee starrer is slated for a release on August 15 and will clash with the Akshay Kumar starrer 'Gold'. A song from the movie featuring Nora Fatehi, which is a reprise version of 'Dilbar' from Sanjay Kapoor and Priya Gill starrer 'Sirf Tum' has been garnering quite a lot of attention. The original song featured the former Miss Universe, Sushmita Sen and was a top chartbuster back in the day.
