Vidya Balan has appreciated Kiara Advani's performance in 'Kabir Singh' and claimed that she was not happy with one particular plot point in the film. In a rapid-fire interview held by a media publication, Vidya Balan stated that she did not like how Kiara Advani's character (Preeti) took Shahid Kapoor (Kabir Singh) back at the end of the film.
The actress who appeared in 'Mission Mangal' last stated that she did not like the fact that actress takes back the lead actor in the film, and that it is just her 'personal opinion' at the end of the day. Vidya Balan also claimed to have called Kiara Advani as she felt that she did a great job.
'Kabir Singh' is a Hindi remake of Telugu film, 'Arjun Reddy' which is helmed by director Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film revolves around the life of an alcoholic surgeon named 'Kabir Singh' who has anger management issues. In the film, he goes on a self-destructive path after being separated from his ex-lover, Preeti Singh. Produced by BhuBhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde, the film did amazingly well at the box office and minted Rs 200 crores at the box office.
'Kabir Singh' was criticised across masses soon after the film's release as several critics, audiences, netizens, and fans have described the film as 'misogynistic' that celebrates toxic masculinity.
Vidya Balan was last seen in the film, 'Mission Mangal' alongside Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha and others. The film released on Independence Day and has been raking high numbers at the box office. In just a matter of five days, 'Mission Mangal' has crossed Rs 100 crore at the box office.
