Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut recently revealed that she had a 'brief meeting' with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his 2018 historical period drama titled 'Padmaavat'.

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut recently revealed that she had a 'brief meeting' with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his 2018 historical period drama titled 'Padmaavat'. The film originally starred Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in pivotal roles.

Speaking about her meeting with Bhansali, the 'Manikarnika' actress revealed that the ace-filmmaker had narrated the script of the film to her as well, but the conversation 'did not go anywhere'.

She further added that before 'Padmaavat', she was offered to perform the song, 'Ram Chahe Leela' from the director's 2013 film, ' Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela' that was then eventually offered to Priyanka Chopra. 

The actress was last seen in 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', and now after receiving huge appreciation for about her performance in her directorial debut film she is all set to play the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa

Meanwhile, reports also suggest that with the film in her kitty, Kangana Ranaut has become India’s highest paid female actor as she will take home Rs 24 crore for the biopic. As per media reports, Kangana is being paid to the tune of Rs 24 crore for the film which will be released in both Hindi and Tamil. The producers have reportedly already signed a contract with her as they are quite confident that Kangana's star power will help reach a pan-India audience.

This is the first time when a female actor in the film industry is roped for such a huge amount. In fact, not all A-list male stars bag this much amount for their films. The film is being scripted by KV Vijayendra Prasad who has previously written critically acclaimed ventures like 'Baahubali' and 'Manikarnika'. The project will be jointly produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shaailesh R Singh.

Apart from this, she will also be seen sharing screen space with Rajkummar Rao in 'Mental Hai Kya'.
