On July 7, Kangana Ranaut got into a heated argument with a PTI journalist, during the song launch event of her upcoming movie 'Judgementall Hai Kya'. From accusing him of writing 'dirty things' about her films to claiming that he had been running a smear campaign against her, Kangana lambasted the reporter at the event.

In her exclusive interview with Republic Media Network, Kangana Ranaut was asked if she is being targeted by a section of media for supporting the current Prime Minister. To this she said: "Ye jo movie mafia mein ek jo desh droh ka fashion chala hai, jo ki pichle 60-70 saalo se jo sarkaare thi, wo unko aise promote karte the... hum to ab ki generation hai, humein nai pata ki wo log kaha se laate the ye mansikta."

She further clarified, "When I came to this industry, Bollywood has made films (again and again) on goons like Abu Salem and many more. I have myself worked in a few of them. But no one makes films on Chandragupt Maurya, Maharana Pratap or Laxmi Bai.. no one talks about it. Industry ka jo chehra hai, kya wo kisi se chupa hai. Inhone jo desh ki stithi hai, wo kya kar di hai cinema ke through, kisi se nai chupa...Bollywood ka kaala chehra hum sab yuva ko dikhta hai."

On making her stance clear, Kangana stressed that targeting someone on the basis of their personal ideologies is wrong. She said: "Main aaj ki peedhi ki ladki hai, the people who can control my career, jo log raato rat rozi roti aur bag pack kara sakte hain... If I can raise a voice against them, and if I can stand against them, If I can risk my career for that... how does it matter who is sitting in Delhi as a Prime Minister, agar us tarah ki meri soch ho to?"

"I am not a part of politics also. How is that related to me directly? I work in films. You will have to give me that benefit of doubt that I stand for what I believe in and what I like. And that is my right. Why shouldn't I? If I believe that this government can help in country's progress, what is wrong in that? Aisa to hai nai ki maine election ke baad hi ye neeti apnaayi ho. Jo hai wo hai. Jo tha wo tha. If this government had lost the elections, I was ready to face the bashing also or any consquences. So, targetting someone on the basis of this by media is wrong," she concluded.
