The ongoing controversy over Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut bashing a journalist during a recent press meet and the Entertainment Journalists Guild boycotting her thereafter has been making the headlines lately. The actress recently opened up about the row during an exclusive interview with Republic Media Network and said that she is all-willing to befriend the journalist even after the tiff. However, she mentioned there has to be some 'middle ground'.
"We were friends, and god knows maybe we will be friends again," she said while mentioning him during the interaction.
When asked if she still wants to be friends with him, she said, "Of course, that is what the fight is for. You move a step forward and I'll move a step forward. There should be a middle ground, you cannot dominate."
Kangana Ranaut who is all set to star in the upcoming thriller drama 'Judgementall Hai Kya' alongside Rajkummar Rao, got involved in an ugly spat with a journalist during the song launch of her latest venture and allegedly accused him of running a ‘smear campaign’ against her, an allegation that was denied by him. This incident led to a massive controversy with newly formed Entertainment Journalists Guild refusing to give her any further media coverage. Several other press organizations also criticized the actress' behavior.
Justifying her point, the actress said, "He made fun of 'Manikarnika'. When I was directing the film I made sure that the integrity of the character is never compromised, because she is not just any other heroine. You, being a journalist, how can you make fun of it? You can talk about liking or disliking the film, but how can you distort her name or Bhagat Singh's name or Shivaji Maharaj's name?"
A few days back Kangana Ranaut had sent a legal notice to the Entertainment Journalists Guild of India, that called for a ban on her, and the Press Club of India, that supported the decision. The actress also recently released a video firing back at the Guild and the journalist associated with it for banning her.
Further clarifying on the row, she said, "I am not against the media. In my video, I have clarified that I acknowledge media's contribution to the prosperity of our country. I am not saying media at large is wrong."
