Sharing her own experience of being touched inappropriately by a person blatantly, Kangana Ranaut defended Rani Mukerji’s recent views on #Metoo movement that she got flak for. Calling the criticism for the actress ‘scary’ and ‘horrible’, the ‘Manikarnika’ star stated that she perhaps couldn’t articulate her views on ensuring one’s safety properly.

Rani was trolled for saying in a recent interview that women need to be strong enough to kick the assaulters between their legs, give them a ‘jhappar’ (slap). As other actresses like Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma, as a part of the same interview, expressed that not all women are constructed that way and that again women were expected to change when no major change was taking place with respect to their safety, Rani stated that such women to be spoken to and explained to be ‘tough’ to protect themselves. She also stated that martial arts is the need of the hour.

On Rani Mukerji getting trolled for her views, Kangana defended her saying it was ‘sad’ that the ‘Mardaani’ star got ‘bullied and trolled’ for the ‘cause of women empowerment.’ The actress defended her saying that perhaps she couldn’t articulate herself, but she is not weak or timid, rather an ‘epitome of women’s empowerment.’ Kangana added that unlike many who ‘talk a lot’, but don’t necessarily live up to their views, Rani was someone who did so.

Kangana also revealed that a person once pinched her on her butt in the middle of a group. The actress stated that it was not sexual but as if to say ‘I did exactly what I was not supposed to do’ and looking into her eye as if to say ‘what are you going to do now?’

Kangana felt when the attitude of the criminal is such, it was not the right attitude to expect another person to ensure you are safe or to rescue you when you are unsafe. She asserted that ensuring one’s own safety didn’t mean knowing karate of Taekwondo, but to be able to approach someone who could save you, like a teacher, uncle, journalist. She stated that Rani’s views on similar lines for which she got trolled was ‘horrible’ and 'scary.'

On the professional front, Kangana is currently gearing up for the release of 'Manikarnika', which is hitting the theatres on 25 January.
