  • Now, a very interesting development has taken place regarding the big Republic Day clash.

The date of January 25 is one of the most coveted dates this year by Bollywood films. Initially, Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' was touted to release on that date. Soon, it was joined by Emraan Hashmi's 'Cheat India' and then Nawazuddin Siddiqui's 'Thackeray'. Now, a very interesting development has taken place regarding the big Republic Day clash.

As per sources, both 'Manikarnika' and 'Cheat India' will be changing their release date in order to let Thackeray release on January 25. While the Emraan Hashmi starrer will apparently be released a week early, the Rani Laxmibai biopic may have to be postponed. Turns out that Shiv Sena apparently requested the makers of these films to accommodate the release of 'Thackeray', which is based on the life of the late Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray.

If these films are truly changing their release dates, then the biopic on the political leader will get a clear release and will enjoy the perks of the Republic Day weekend. Initially, the maker of 'Thackeray' had wanted to release the film on his birth anniversary as the perfect tribute but later decided on this date.

It had also been reported earlier on that the party has issued a warning to the makers of the movies it is clashing with at the box office. Bala Lokare, who is the Secretary of Shiv Sena Chitrapat Sena had stated in a Facebook post that he won't let any other movie release on that date. When Republic TV got in touch with Lokare, he confirmed the same.

Meanwhile, Republic TV also exclusively got in touch with Vishal Sudarshanwar, who plays Bal Thackeray's nephew and current chairperson of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, Raj Thackeray. He had a lot to say about his co-star Nawazuddin as he said, "When I first met Nawazuddin sir, I was like, he's so down to Earth, he's a superstar right now. But still, he really down to Earth."
