Producer-director Karan Johar celebrates 17 years of the release of the iconic film 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' on Friday, December 14. The filmmaker took to Instagram and shared a video reminiscing some shots from the film featuring the lead actors-  Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, and Kareena Kapoor. The text in the video read, "After all these years of memories and of love, it's still all about loving your family". Karan Johar captioned the post saying, "#17yearsofk3g !!! ❤️❤️❤️"

The multi-starrer venture was written and directed by Karan Johar while it was produced by his uncle Yash Johar. The family drama narrates the story of a man, who is the adopted older son of a rich couple. However, he was banished by his father as he decides to marry the love of his life, who belonged to a middle-class family. Years later, his younger brother Rohan takes up the initiative to reunite the families. The film emerged as a major commercial success, both domestically and internationally, with a lifetime gross of ₹1.36 billion at the worldwide box office. It was the highest-grossing Indian film ever until its record was broken by Johar's next directorial, 'Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna' (2006). 

Meanwhile, on the work front, Karan has a number of films in the pipeline for release. Along with that, he will also be producing' Kesari',  'Kalank', 'Student of the Year 2' and 'Brahmastra' which are slated for a 2019 release.

Moreover, earlier this year, the producer announced a war epic film 'Takht'. The multi starer venture will feature Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor. This would be the first time that Karan Johar will be trying his hand at directing an epic. The film is anticipated to hit the theatres in 2020. 

Meanwhile, he is also hosting season six of his chat show 'Koffee With Karan'. The show kick-started on October 21 and hosted several celebrity pairs including- Alia Bhatt and Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Ranveer Singh, Saif Ali Khan and daughter Sara Ali Khan among others.
