Taking to Twitter, Karan made a huge announcement that he has officially started a digital content company. Titled as Dharmatic Entertainment, it will be a division of Dharma productions and will produce content for the digital space. The current pioneer in this realm in the Indian market is Ekta Kapoor, whose Alt Balaji has been making waves. With Karan's entry in the game, it could really change things for digital content as far as India is concerned.

Meanwhile, he also shared a picture of Dharmatic Entertainment's new office and also disclosed that the CEO of Dharma, Apoorva Mehta will be taking care of this digital arm as well. The filmmaker also revealed that Somen Mishra will be handling the fictional content and Aneesha Baig will be handling the non-fictional content. Sharing the picture, he wrote, "Our new journey begins!!! DHARMATIC !! The DIGITAL content company! This is our new baby @apoorvamehta18 !! Fiction head @NotSoSnob Non fiction head @aneeshabaig."

This also means that Netflix and Amazon Prime, which is steadily expanding in the country now has some fresh competition to deal with. Owing to Dharma's fantastic reputation, there is massive potential for the digital wing to grow big in the upcoming years, at least in terms of the Indian market. Moreover, India is a veritable goldmine which Netflix and Prime are only beginning to explore. Now, with this new player, it remains to be seen how things will play out in the future. Currently, though, Karan is busy promoting '2.0' which is all set to release on November 29.
