The movie will be helmed by Johar after his last directorial 'Ae Dil Hain Mushkil' starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. Speculations were rife that Karan Johar was going to cast Ranveer Singh in his next starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. However, no official announcement was made then, but Karan sure has made one now. The 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hain' director took to his official Instagram account to post the first poster of his next venture titled 'Takht' and then went on post the official announcement of the star cast.

Take a look at his post here!

As the 'My Name Is Khan' director posted the picture and captioned it as, "Supremely Excited to announce the cast of #TAKHT!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️".

As Karan posted the first poster of 'Takht' he captioned the picture as, "An incredible story embedded in history...
An epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne... A story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession...
TAKHT is about WAR for LOVE ....

Ranveer Singh also went on to post the same on his official Instagram account. He posted the official announcement on his official Instagram account and captioned it as, "#TAKHT @karanjohar#KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaabhatt@vickykaushal09 @psbhumi@janhvikapoor @anilskapoor

That's not it! Vicky Kaushal who is riding high on the success of his latest release 'Sanju' also went on to post the announcement on his official Instagram account and captioned it as, "#TAKHT 🙏 @ranveersingh#KareenaKapoorKhan @aliaabhatt@psbhumi @janhvikapoor & @anilskapoor#HirooYashJohar @karanjohar@apoorva1972 @dharmamovies".

This would be the first time that Karan Johar will be trying his hands directing an epic. The producer-director has been known for his expertise in creating breathtaking romantic moments on screen that make you want to have a love story similar to his characters. 'Takht' is a historic epic based set in the Mughal era. As his post suggests, the film will have an epic battle for the majestic Mughal throne. As all Karan Johar movies are a family entertainer, this one too shall live up to it as it revolves around a story of a family, of ambition, of greed, of betrayal, of love & of succession. As he mentioned in his post, "Takht is about WAR for LOVE". After producing one of India's highest grossing films 'Baahubali: The Beginning' and 'Baahubali 2: The Conclusion', Karan is all set to direct his very own epic. This would also be the first time Sridevi's daughter Janhvi Kapoor would be sharing screen space with uncle Anil Kapoor. 'Takht' will be Janhvi's second film, and we can't wait to see her again onscreen after 'Dhadak'.

On the work front, Ranveer Singh is currently working on 'Simmba' helmed by Rohit Shetty, while Kareena Kapoor Khan has been enjoying the success of her recent release 'Veere Di Wedding' starring Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker, and Shikha Talsania. Vicky Kaushal is gearing up for his next release, 'Manmarziyaan' starring Abhishek Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu and is also filming for 'Uri' which is based on the Uri attacks. Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal were last seen in Meghna Gulzar's 'Raazi', and we are already wondering if they would be paired opposite each other again given their sizzling onscreen chemistry. Alia is currently shooting for Ayan Mukerji's 'Brahmastra' starring rumoured beau Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Akkineni Nagarjuna to name a few.
