Kargil Vijay Diwas: Sidharth Malhotra, who plays Captain Batra in Shershaah, pens heartfelt note

Sidharth Malhotra joined the nation is honouring the soldiers who risked and sacrificed their lives for the country as 20 years of the successful Operation Vijay, in the India-Pakistan Kargil War is being commemorated on July 26. One such hero is Captain Vikram Batra, known for leading one of the toughest operations during the war. As Sidharth Malhotra gears up to play Captian Batra in ‘Shershaah’ (Lion King), the actor penned a heartfelt note, saluting the bravehearts who laid their lives for the country. The ‘Student of the Year 2’ star expressed his pride in enacting the role of such a hero.

Sidharth on Friday shared a video with visuals of a candle, the Army Jawans and Captain Batra and the lines, “To those who served in uniform, who secured safe nights for many, for a better tomorrow. We honour you today and every day.” 

He captioned the tweet, “Salute to our braveheart soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the honor, integrity, and people of India. I feel privileged to be portraying one such character in #Shershaah Jai Hind #KargilVijayDivas.”

Bollywood tribute for Kargil Vijay Diwas: 

Earlier in the day, many other Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Sonakshi Sinha, among others, had also sent their tributes to the soldiers.

Even a commemorative football match was held between Bollywood stars and Army, Navy jawans in Mumbai on Friday. Ranbir Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan were among the members participating in the game. 

Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year on July 26 to honour the successful Operation Vijay, to signify India's victory in the war, which ended on this day 20 years ago   

Shershaah: 

Meanwhile, ‘Shershaah’ also stars Kiara Advani. The film is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, among others and is being directed by Vishnu Varadhan. The team has completed one schedule and the movie is gearing up for release next year.
