Kiara Advani Opens Up About Casting Changes In 'Kabir Singh', Reveals How The Role Swung Back To Her

As per reports, 'Kabir Singh' underwent a lot of casting changes from Ranveer Singh to Arjun Kapoor and Tara Sutaria being considered for the lead roles. But in the end, Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani were eventually finalized. In an interview with a leading media publication, Advani revealed that director Sandeep had approached her through a casting agent after he saw her performance in 'Bharat Ane Nenu' opposite Mahesh Babu.

Further detailing, she said that she did a screen test and things were locked but then due to a few unknown reasons, it did not 'work out' and then suddenly the role came back to her as the director could 'see' only her. For the uninitiated, the film's lead female role was first offered to 'Student of The Year 2' actress Tara Sutaria. 

Kiara plays the role of a medical student Preeti in the film, directed by Sandeep Vanga Reddy. It is a remake of the director's Telugu blockbuster "Arjun Reddy", which starred Vijay Devarakonda and Shalini Pandey.

'Kabir Singh', releasing on June 21, is a remake of Telugu hit film "Arjun Reddy" that starred Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey. Featuring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, "Kabir Singh" is a T-Series and Cine1 Studios presentation and is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Murad Khetani, Krishan Kumar and Ashwin Varde.

Meanwhile, after 'Kabir Singh', the actress will be seen in 'Indoo Ki Jawani', and as per media reports, the film is a quirky comedy that marks the Bollywood debut of Bengali writer-filmmaker Abir Sengupta. The film will reportedly be produced by Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani and Nikkhil Advani and co-produced by Niranjan Iyengar and Ryan Stephen. The film is all set to go on floors in September 2019.
