Kriti Sanon On Section 377 Verdict, 'I Am Glad It Happened, Would Wish To See My Gay Friends Getting Married'

As Section 377 got abolished on Thursday, India rewrote history by rejecting a 156-year old law and decriminalizing gay sex. The entire country celebrated the decision of the Supreme Court and the verdict was welcomed with open arms. Even Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their appreciation and hailed the Supreme Court's verdict. Bollywood stars like Karan Johar, Abhishek Bachchan, Dia Mirza, Sonam Kapoor, Swara  Bhaskar, Farhan Akhtar, Rahul Bose, Kalki Kanmani, Pritish Nandy,Shruti Seth, renowned author Chetan Bhagat took to social media to congratulate LGBT community and the country for this progressive step.

While speaking exclusively to Republic TV, Bollywood actress Kriti Sanon not only welcomed the verdict but also revealed that she wishes to see her LGBT friends happily married.  The actress said,

"Everyone has the right to be who they want to be, to recognize their sexuality and love who they want to love without being judged! Love has no rules or conditions and that's how it should be! This is the India we should be! This was a much-needed step and I am thrilled that it has finally happened! A few of my closest friends(who are also my staff) are gay and I would love to see them get married!"

Meanwhile, On the work front, Kriti Sanon was recently seen in a song in the Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer 'Stree', and also has a range of projects in her kitty including 'Arjun Patiala' which is an upcoming rom-com featuring Diljit Dosanjh, Kriti Sanon and Varun Sharma in pivotal roles. The movie is directed by Rohit Jugraj and bankrolled by Bhushan Kumar of T-series and is slated to hit theatres next year. The film was earlier scheduled to release on September 13, 2018. If reports are to be believed, Sunny Leone will have a special dance number in the film. Meanwhile, Kriti earlier garnered a rave response for her performance in 'Bareilly Ki Barfi' starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao which hit the theatres in 2017.

On the personal front, the 'Dilwale' actress was reportedly dating her 'Raabta' co-star Sushant Singh Rajput. However, the latest reports now suggest that the duo has split.
