Kuch Kuch Hota Hai has been a cult Bollywood film, influencing an entire generation with its dialogues, story and also fashion. Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji were magic together on-screen and fans swooned over the trio's looks. Directed by Karan Johar, the movie was a blockbuster at the box office and is still considered as one of the best films in the industry. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai was not only appreciated for its story and performances but also the style colour that it brought in Bollywood. The classic was released on October 16, 1998.

Here's how Kuch Kuch Hota Hai transformed Bollywood fashion

Shah Rukh Khan's look showed maturity in character as well as dressing.

In the first half of the film, King Khan played Rahul Khanna, the popular college kid who was always 'cool' in college. He was seen wearing colourful t-shirts, zipper jackets and, to add to his devil-may-care attitude he actually wore a locket carved with the word 'COOL' on it. High waist jeans and sunglasses that would now be termed as 'tacky' by the fashion police were the fashion statement for the self-absorbed Rahul back then. But as the college phase passes and he becomes a responsible man, and a doting father so, there was a change in his clothing style. He was seen in a businessman avatar in the second half, wearing dapper suits with earthy or muted tones, along with tie on certain occasions.

Rani Mukerji

She was the 'hot' college girl. Tina Malhotra was played by Rani Mukerji and her fashion statement was always 'on fleek', and perhaps way ahead of its time when she was in college, therefore inviting several stares from her college mates. Tina’s style in the film became the most chic fashion to follow among women. Rani Mukherji's Tina From two-piece-sets to traditional apparel, Tina stole many hearts with neutral shades that highlighted her slightly mature character attitude. Her bold dressing sense is considered to be ahead of her time. Matching bags and other accessories with every outfit were add on.

Kajol

Kajol appeared as Anjali Sharma in the film. In the first half, she was seen in a tomboy look with short hair and accompanied with a cap or a hairband. Her style statement includes denim jacket, zipper jackets and the famous red jumpsuit, all playing with different pops of bright colours that show her vibrant personality. But as the movie moves forward, there was a drastic change in her fashion. After being heartbroken, Anjali’s character saw a switch. She was seen in long hair wearing severe types of sarees. Her traditional look mesmerized many.

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai started a new fashion trend. There demands of western as well as traditional clothes in the market. Inspired by the film, people were seen wearing the same style of clothes. Several films also took style adaption from the movie. As it completes more than two decades, Karan Johar expressed his feeling on Twitter.
