Actors are often known for the varieties of roles they portray on screen. They are appreciated for their versatility. Commonly, the characters portrayed by them on-screen leave a strong impression on the audience which later on becomes memorable at a point of time. Hence, it is very difficult for the leading actors to break their image and experiment with existing image while playing a negative character. Here is a list of five actors who played the antagonist brilliantly.

Shah Rukh Khan in Anjaam

Shah Rukh Khan had a humble start in the Hindi film industry by playing a villain before stealing the heartbeats of millions of his fans with his romantic image. Shah Rukh played a psychotic obsessive lover in the 1994 thriller Anjaam. The film was directed by Rahul Rawail and it was a super-hit at the box office.

Ajay Devgn in Khakee

Ajay Devgn has received critical acclaim for portraying strong and intense characters on screen. The actor played the antagonist in the action-thriller Khakee. The film was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Ajay Devgn delivered the role of Yashwant Angre with complete perfection which earned him a nomination for the Filmfare award for Best Performance in a Negative Role.

Abhishek Bachchan in Yuva

Yuva is considered one of the best films directed by Mani Ratnam. The character of Lallan Singh which was portrayed by Abhishek Bachchan was loved by the audiences and received positive views from the critics. The film was one of the biggest hits in the year 2004. The story was based on college students who enter into politics.

Saif Ali Khan in Omkara

The 2006 crime-drama was an adaptation of William Shakespeare's Othello. The portrayal of the ruthless Landa Tyagi surprised the audiences. It is considered to be one of the best performances by Saif Ali Khan. Omkara was also showcased in the 2006 Cannes Film Festival.

Riteish Deshmukh in Ek Villian

Riteish brought out the grey shades of the serial killer Rakesh Mahadkar brilliantly in every possible way. The actor was praised for his performance. Ek Villain became a commercial hit at the box office and was also praised by the critics. The film was directed by Mohit Suri.
