‘Luka Chuppi’, other Dinesh Vijan films won’t release in Pakistan; Rekha Bhardwaj, Harshdeep Kaur cancel scheduled event

Celebrities are protesting the dastardly terror attack in Pulwama by cutting off any scheduled collaboration associated with Pakistan. Rekha Bhardwaj, Harshdeep and Dinesh Vijan are among the latest celebrities to take steps to ensure that their services or films won't be available for the neighbouring country. While the singers cancelled a scheduled event in Pakistan, the producer has stated his films won’t be releasing in the country.

Celebrities are protesting the dastardly terror attack in Pulwama by cutting off any scheduled collaboration associated with Pakistan. Rekha Bhardwaj, Harshdeep and Dinesh Vijan are among the latest celebrities to take steps to ensure that their services or films won't be available for the neighbouring country. While the singers cancelled a scheduled event in Pakistan, the producer has stated his films won’t be releasing in the country.

According to reports, Rekha and Harshdeep were set to perform at the Shaan-e-Pakistan 2019 event to be held in Lahore on March 21 and 22. Both of them have now confirmed that they have cancelled their visit immediately after the Pulwama attack. 

Dinesh Vijan, known for backing blockbusters like ‘Stree’, also stated that none of his upcoming films would be releasing in Pakistan. In a statement on Twitter, he wrote, “This has been one of the most horrific terrorist attacks. It’s time we stand in solidarity, and this is my small way of showing our soldiers that we are with them in these times. None of my upcoming projects shall release in Pakistan.” 

The producer’s upcoming films include Kartik Aaryan-Kriti Sanon starrer ‘Luka Chuppi’, ‘Arjun Patiala’ starring Kriti and Diljit Dosanjh and Rajkummar Rao-Mouni Roy starrer ‘Made in China.’

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote that Dinesh has cancelled the contract with Pakistan distributors, "Producer Dinesh Vijan [Maddock Films] cancels contract with #Pakistan distributor... Won't release #LukaChuppi and #ArjunPatiala in #Pakistan. #PulwamaAttack #PulwamaTerrorAttacks."

Previously, upcoming release 'Total Dhamaal' team had also announced their decision to not release the movie in the wake of the Pulwama attack.
