Maharashtra election: Prem Chopra, Gulzar cast their vote in Mumbai

Voting for the Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections is currently underway. These elections are being held to elect state legislative Assemblies in Maharashtra and Haryana state. The polling for 90 Assembly seats of Haryana and 288 seats of Maharashtra started at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm. The counting of votes will take place on October 24. Many prominent leaders including CM Devendra Fadnavis, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Shiv Sena's Aditya Thackeray have cast their vote. During this time many film personalities also reached the polling booth to cast their votes and appealed to people to do the same.

Prem Chopra, Gulzar cast vote in Mumbai

Besides the Assembly polls, 'bye-elections' are also underway in Satara Lok Sabha constituency. Several Bollywood actors including Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Aamir Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor Khan cast their vote today. Bollywood’s veteran actor Prem Chopra and director-lyricist Gulzar voted at a polling booth in Bandra (West). 

 

Maharashtra election

In Maharastra, the BJP is seeking a second term under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Shiv Sena is contesting from 126 seats and BJP is contesting from 162 seats. For the Haryana Assembly elections, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has reportedly set a target of 75 out of 90 assembly seats. Last time, the BJP won 48 seats enjoying a comfortable majority, while the Congress won 17 seats.
