Maharashtra Floods: Genelia-Riteish Deshmukh Make Big Contribution To CM's Fund, Say 'Together We Can Achieve A Lot'

Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh donated Rs 25 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund as Maharashtra grapples with floods in numerous areas since the past few days. The actor-couple termed their contribution as ‘humble’ while urging the citizens to come forward because they feel ‘together we can achieve a lot.’ Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his gratitude to the duo for their contribution.

Riteish-Genelia make a significant contribution 

Sharing a snap of the Riteish and Genelia presenting the cheque, CM Devendra Fadnavis tweeted, “Thank you Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh for the contribution of ₹25,00,000/- (₹25 lakh) towards #CMReliefFund for #MaharashtraFloods ! @Riteishd@geneliad.” 

Riteish responded to the post, “Over the past few days the floods have caused havoc in Maharashtra & other parts of the country..the visuals have been distressing and disturbing, @geneliad and myself met our Hon CM this morning and made a humble contribution towards the CM Relief Fund through ‘Desh Foundation’.”

He added, “We sincerely urge everyone to come forward and stand by those affected.Together we can achieve a lot. Thank you @Dev_Fadnavis ji.” 

Riteish’s father Vilasrao Deshmukh was also a CM of Maharashtra. 

Around 40 people have died in the floods that have ravaged areas like Satara, Sangli and Kolhapur districts in Maharashtra. Home Minister Amit Shah conducted an aerial survey of the flood-affected regions on Sunday.

Apart from Maharashtra, several parts of Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh,  Bihar, Odisha and the North-East have also been affected. 

B-Town support 

Previously, Riteish’s ‘Housefull’ franchise co-star Akshay Kumar had made a donation of Rs 2 crore, Rs 1 crore each to the CM’s Relief Fund and for the Kaziranga Park rescue in mid-July.
