MAMI 2019: Top movies screened at the 21st edition of the festival

MAMI 2019 is being held in Mumbai. The film festival, spanning for a week and more has an interesting line-up of movies this year. Here are the top five movies.

The 21st Mumbai Film Festival (MAMI) is currently being hosted in the Mumbai city. The festival, held between October 17, 2019, to October 24, 2019, is reportedly screening around 200 movies in the movie festival. MAMI was started with the vision to showcase the latest independent cinema to all movie enthusiasts. Other than screening independent movies, the film festival also has engaging conversations around the realm of entertainment. In the past two days, the film festival has showcased some interesting movies. Here are a few movies that one must not miss when they release in theatres.

Top 5 films screened at MAMI, this year

A. Aamis (Assamese)

The movie, starring Lima Das, Arghadeep Baruah and Neetali Das in the lead, is allegedly one of the most exciting regional movies to have screened in this year's film festival. Directed by Bhaskar Hazarika, the movie narrates the tale of two lovers who bow down to the social pressures and fall prey to the society's taboo. The movie, which was released early this year in the United States of America, is an intriguing watch for all movie enthusiasts.

B. Moothon (Malayalam) 

The movie, starring Nivin Pauly, Sobhita Dhulipala and Roshan Matthew in the lead, narrates the tale of a brother in search of his sibling. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the movie is a bilingual produced by Anurag Kashyap. The movie is all set to hit the theatres by the end of this year.

C. Bombay Rose (Hindi)

This animated romantic drama recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival. Directed by Gitanjali Rao, the movie narrates the tale of Kamala and Salim's quest for love in the realms of Mumbai city. Reportedly, this animated movie was a pleasant watch for all movie-goers at the film festival. 

D. Roam Rome Mein (Hindi)

The bilingual drama marked the directorial debut of popular actor Tannishtha Chatterjee. The movie, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tannishtha Chatterjee and Valentina Corti in the lead, narrates the tale of a brother in search of his missing sister. Here is a glimpse of the film:

E. The Last Color (Hindi)

The Last Color is based on Chef Vikas Khanna's novel of the same name. The movie, starring Neena Gupta in the lead, narrates the tale of friendship between a tight-rope walker and window. The movie was released in the United States of America early this year and will be released worldwide soon.
