'Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi' is based on the life of Rani Laxmi Bai. Along with the 'Queen' actress Kangana Ranaut, it also stars television actress Ankita Lokhande. The film is slated for a Republic Day, 2019 release. Previously, Sonu Sood, who is an accomplished actor and has been in the industry for a decade now, opted out of the film and had stated that the main reason for him doing so was because the dates of 'Manikarnika' were clashing with his recently released film 'Simmba'.
However, in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, the actor revealed the 'real' reason behind him opting out of the Kangana Ranaut starrer. He stated that there were times when somehow things did not go well with the director and Kangana, and they wanted to reshoot the film. But after that, when Sood saw the way the film was edited, he felt that a few scenes were missing and that really disturbed him, as he had put in quite a bit of hard work to shoot the scenes.
Although the original director of 'Manikarnika' previously was Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi, reports suggested that he was busy shooting for the NTR biopic, that stars Nandamuri Balakrishnan and Vidya Balan in pivotal roles, and due to his absence, Kangana decided to direct the rest of the scenes of the film.
On the professional front, Sood was last seen in Rohit Shetty's 'Simmba' alongside Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan. The film released on December 28 and crossed the 100 crore mark at the box office.
