'Manikarnika' star Kangana Ranaut reveals that directing is her first love and not acting, details inside

Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' has been one roller coaster ride for her and the rest of the cast. Now, that the film's trailer has come out and is really making waves, the actress revealed what she went through while undertaking the dual role of actor and director.

Kangana Ranaut's 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' has been one roller coaster ride for her and the rest of the cast. Initially roped in to play the lead in the film, she had to take up the direction as well after an alleged fallout with Krish. Now, that the film's trailer has come out and is really making waves, the actress revealed what she went through while undertaking the dual role of actor and director.

The actress confessed that she had always wanted to direct films and that she never really identified as an actress. For her, the direction part has always been her first love and calling. She added that she felt like acting but that when she did not partake in the filmmaking process, she felt like a part of her was rotting away. Kangana got candid about the film and said that when she was on board only as the lead, it was a frustrating experience for her. She disclosed that she got injured and was a point when she did not know how she would take this role forward as an actor. However, when she took over the reins of the film, she said that she felt a lot more confident and goal oriented, which helped in seeing the historical epic through. Well, it certainly comes as a surprise to many for she is undoubtedly a phenomenal actor but it seems that she was not tapping into her full potential as an artist.

Coming to the epic trailer, it looks super impressive and promising with massive set pieces, amazing action and breathtaking sets and costumes. The message of a strong woman taking the lead is really empowering for the viewers as well. With Kangana now taking dual roles as both lead and filmmaker, 'Manikarnika' has become one of the most important projects of her career. Produced by Zee Studios, the historical film is all set to release on January 25, 2018.
