The trailer shows the story of the Kingdom of Jhansi, on which the British have a keen eye as they are looking to conquer it. The kingdom is looking for a strong warrior to lead them in these tough times. In comes, Manikarnika, played by Kangana Ranaut. She is fierce, brave and is an excellent warrior. Soon she is married off to the king played by Jisshu Sengupta and ascends the throne. She takes on the name of Laxmi and also becomes an able mother, queen and leader. Finally, she is forced to face off against the never-ending British troops and unafraid till her last breath, the queen fights back in such a way with her troops that it becomes an inspiration for all yearning for India's freedom.

The trailer looks really epic with massive set pieces, amazing action and breathtaking sets and costumes. The message of a strong woman taking the lead is really empowering for the viewers as well. However, there is one drawback in the fact that a lot seems to ride on Kangana and it looks a little doubtful on whether she can pull it off. It is one thing to carry a film like 'Queen' and something else altogether to pull off a film like 'Manikarnika'. But it must be noted that it's just a preview so the best may be yet to come. Directed by Krish of 'Gabbar is Back' fame, the film is all set to release on January 25, 2019.
