Masala Films Is The Holy Grail Of Mainstream Hindi Films? Ranveer Singh Believes So!

According to reports, Ranveer recently said that Simmba is a full-blown masala film and an entertainer. Reportedly Ranveer said that he believes masala films is the holy grail of mainstream Hindi films. Adding to that he said that in terms of genre, it is the king of all genres, as reported.

Ranveer Singh is currently gearing up for his upcoming release 'Simmba'. The film marks Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Arora's daughter, Sara Ali Khan's debut. The film helmed by Rohit Shetty is a remake of a Telugu film titled 'Temper'. Ranveer will be seen essaying the role of a flamboyant policeman in the film. 'Simmba' also stars Sonu Sood.

As per reports, Ranveer recently said that 'Simmba' is a full-blown masala film and is a complete entertainer. Reportedly Ranveer said that he believes masala films are the holy grail of mainstream Hindi films. Adding to that, he said that in terms of genre, it is the king of all genres.

According to reports, Ranveer further went on to say that he was very lucky and blessed to have worked under the guidance of the king of that genre, referring to Rohit Shetty. Ranveer reportedly said that Rohit is the gold standard in the masala film genre, the genre in which Singh is foraying into and so it could not get any better, for it is highly entertaining. 

'Simmba' is backed by Karan Johar and Reliance Entertainment and is slated to release on December 28. The film was initially supposed to release on December 21, but the makers deferred the release of the film by a week in order to avert a clash at the box office with Shah Rukh Khan starrer 'Zero'.

With a lot of things to watch out for in 'Simmba', Ranveer reportedly said it is a very substantial story that drives the narrative of the film and there are intensely dramatic and comedic bits. Singh further added that the film has just what a mainstream Hindi audience loves, and all of these flavours come into one film and the one man who crafts it so beautifully is Rohit Shetty. Ranveer Singh with 'Simmba' is hoping to set a new benchmark in the genre. The 'Padmaavat' actor also reportedly said that there are exciting action sequences and a great song in the film.

What's next for Ranveer Singh

Ranveer Singh who was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' alongside Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor is gearing up for 'Simmba' which is slated to release on December 28. On the other hand, Ranveer has wrapped up the shoot for Zoya Akhtar's next 'Gully Boy'. Ranveer is scheduled to begin the shoot for Karan Johar's war epic set in the Mughal era titled 'Takht'. 'Takht' also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Anil Kapoor and Janhvi Kapoor. This would be Ranveer Singh's third epic film after starring in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Bajirao Mastani' and 'Padmaavat'.
