Bollywood filmmaker Meghna Gulzar is all set to produce a series on the life of the highly regarded top cop, and former Commissioner of Mumbai Police Rakesh Maria. The director has joined hands with Reliance Entertainment's Phantom Films for the project. As per media reports, the series will be based on the work experiences of the Mumbai Police Commissioner. It will depict how the senior police offcial deal with various cases that he came across before reaching his position. Confirming the making of the series, the filmmaker took to Twitter and wrote, "Taut files of a top cop! An original series on the life and case files of former Mumbai CP, #RakeshMaria. Excited to be telling these stories with @RelianceEnt @FuhSePhantom & #MadhuMantena"

 The IPS officer Rakesh Maria, who cleared his Civil Service Examination as a part of the 1981 batch, has unveiled several huge cases in his career span. He cracked the Bombay serial blast case in 1993, holding the position of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) and later he was moved to Crime, and then he got the promotion to become the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), of the Mumbai Police. He has also played a significant role in the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai in 2008. He interrogated Ajmal Kasab, the only terrorist captured alive, and successfully investigated the case.

As per media reports, the top cop who is really excited about the biopic said that he is very happy to re-live the journey. He is glad that the project is taken up by Meghna Gulzar and praising the director he said, she is a 'brilliant and sensitive director'. He also said that more than being nostalgic, he considers the project as an valuable opportunity to reveal the achievements poof Mumbai police, facing tough challenges and working against all odds.

Meghna's recent venture 'Raazi', starred Bollywood diva Alia Bhatt in the lead role. It revolved around the life of an Indian spy, who marries a Pakistani man during the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. The film had hit the silver screen on May 11, 2018 and received huge appreciation from its viewers. It turned out to be a a huge commercial success and made a box office collection of  Rs. 194.06 crore.

Talking about the film, the director said, Rakesh Maria's life is a powerful lens to explore the chronology of crime and terror in our society. She said that his life experiences has huge potential content and is very thrilling.
